WARSTONES WANDERERS v ALLSCOTT HEATH: THE MOWDOG'S MATCH PREVIEW...

 Warstones Wanderers v Allscott Heath:

The Mowdog’s Match Preview…

This West Midlands Regional League Division 1 match looks to be a rather tasty one, to say the least. Third placed Wanderers have won four of their five matches this season with a fine goals ratio of 22-6, in gathering 12 points. The visiting Monners have won all five games so far this term and currently lead the league with an impressive goals ratio of 20-3. They have obviously picked up 15 points from the 15 on offer so far.

AMOS LANE, ON MY LAST VISIT IN 2011-12...

I did see Wanderers play last season in a cup-tie at Pershore Town and three images from that encounter, which was won 3-1 by the hosting Plums, appear below. I have never seen Allscott play, so this coming Saturday will be my first opportunity to do so and it will also be my first match in the WMRFL this season…

Warstones so far this term:

A 0-4 victory on the road at Wellington Amateurs came first, where substitute Tom Piggott grabbed a hat-trick and Jacob Bull added the other goal. This was followed by the only loss suffered by Wanderers this term. An 85th minute winner by Wyrley United’s Alex Henry saw Warstones go down 2-1, with Dom Latham getting the consolation goal.

READY TO PLAY AT PERSHORE...

Back on track, a 3-7 win at Gornal Colts featured another Piggott hat-trick and unsurprisingly he was voted as the team’s MVP too. The other goals were scored by Shane Holmes, Joe Prosser, Dan Lawrence and substitute Dom Fearon.

FACING A FREE-KICK FROM THE PLUMS...

A 3-1 home success v Bromyard Town was next, which saw Piggott grab a brace and Holmes net the other goal, whilst Basir Mohammed was elected the team’s MVP.

GOALIE TOM GREENHOUSE IS DOWN DURING THE PERSHORE GAME LAST DECEMBER...

Last Saturday, away from home for the fourth time this season, Wanderers hammered Saltley Stallions by 0-7. MVP Rivel Mardenborough scored four times, Reagan Wardle netted a brace from the bench and Craig Radford completed the scoring. Stallions’ Roland Agbor was dismissed during the match…

Allscott’s form so far…

A 6-2 win v FC Darlaston began the season, in which Tom Fallon scored twice, added to by strikes from Ryan Jones, Daryl Rogers, James Jehu and Aaron Williams.

THE MONNERS...

Another home win followed, 6-0 this time v Sikh Hunters, during which six different players nabbed the goals: Fallon, Aidan and James Jehu, MVP Williams and substitutes Mark Murch and Will Rogers.

MARK MURCH...

A 0-3 success on the road at Wrens Nest came next, where MVP Aidan Jehu, Ryan Mansell and Josh Jones found the net. This was followed by a 3-0 home win v Kidderminster Harriers U23s, the goals coming from Fallon and a Mansell brace, whilst Ryan Jones was acclaimed the team’s MVP.

AIDEN JEHU...

Last Saturday featured a dramatic match at Gornal Athletic, where Gornal’s Ed Rann was not only sin-binned but also dismissed at around the half-time period. His colleague Leigh Pardoe was also binned for sinning, whilst the Monners’ Jack Parton was sent-off, but as added time arrived during the second period, the score was still 0-0. Then Ryan Jones snaffled a goal for the visitors, a penalty equaliser followed immediately for Gornal and then Ryan Jones popped up again to notch a last gasp winner for the league leaders. Williams was voted Allscott’s MVP after the match…

So, all seems set for a fine match at Amos Lane on Saturday and coverage of the encounter, including commentary, screenshots, images and a full match report will be posted at themowdog.blogspot.com during Saturday evening and through Sunday…
