THE VIXEN & THE SPECTATING SLUGS... (My new poem about a fox in the garden...)

 The Vixen & The Spectating Slugs…



A ring of slugs had gathered upon the wet lawn.

She tensed, her rear legs extended and taut.

She listened, she searched the rainy darkness,

Then she paused in her feeding, clearly alert.

She howled a short alarm in apparent distress

And the ring of slugs slithered as she stood, poised and forlorn…

Slugs lay on the wet grass, as a wary, uncertain vixen fed during the night, until a clambering sound disturbed her and she howled a short warning…
