ARRIVAL IN MOUSEHOLE ON A GREY DAY: A POEM...

Arrival In Mousehole...

The retiring harbour
Appeared greyscale
Against such a dull sky and such an iron sea,
Scribbled by entrails of grim smoke
From the stone chimneys
On roofs, disparate and pale…

The arresting haven
 Emanated silence
Before the drab cloud and the wan tide,
Frisked by tails of flustered gulls
From the black isle
And rocks, disproportionate and intense…

Pete Ray

Arriving at Mousehole, before slight drizzling rain dampened grey to slate…
