JANUARY HUDDLE... A NEW POEM...

January Huddle…
(from Kirsty Elson’s 2020 calendar: the January image)

Winter has scudded roughshod
Across this January scene:
Why, even the lighthouse seems to huddle
‘Gainst icy winds and unruly sleet,
Whilst neat cottages remain stubbornly proud,
Prim, proper and as serene
As their exposed location has allowed…

And the sky schemes to befuddle,
Unsettling with a wintry deceit,
As drifted snow lurks ‘neath the sea-wall,
Artfully lingering, hurled there by a squall…
