A Pair Of Norfolk Egrets…
Slightly hunched, one stood in isolation,
Staring, or more accurately, glaring
Across channels of mud,
Awaiting the transformation
From lusty banks of bulked, trenched slime
Into shifting tidal surges
Of a Norfolk inundation…
Sprightly, balanced, one stood in anticipation,
Glaring, or more succinctly, staring
Into shallows of brine,
Wading in expectation
Of tasty prey, prodded by yellow feet
Into frenzied, hungry urges
And predatory excitation…
