A PAIR OF NORFOLK EGRETS...

 A Pair Of Norfolk Egrets…

Slightly hunched, one stood in isolation,

Staring, or more accurately, glaring

Across channels of mud,

Awaiting the transformation

From lusty banks of bulked, trenched slime

Into shifting tidal surges

Of a Norfolk inundation…

Sprightly, balanced, one stood in anticipation,

Glaring, or more succinctly, staring

Into shallows of brine,

Wading in expectation

Of tasty prey, prodded by yellow feet

Into frenzied, hungry urges

And predatory excitation…

One egret almost sulked amongst vegetation in the marshy ground between channels, whilst the other was busily feeding in shallow water…
