MATTISHAM v HEACHAM: THE PREVIEW…
So a first visit to Mattishall for me and in fact a first visit to see any match in the area. Both teams have kindly agreed for me to produce film highlights of the clash, with commentary, as well as provide images and a full match report.
Mattishall’s Blues currently lie 7th of 16 teams in the Anglian County’s Premier Division with 3 wins and 2 defeats from their 5 league games so far. They have a goal-difference of +1 and have amassed 9 points.

Visitors Heacham, the Magpies, top the league table at present with 5 wins from 5 matches played, with a points total therefore of 15 and a goal-difference of +12.

Mattishall’s season began well enough, beating Thorpe St Andrew 1-0 at home, courtesy of a Xavier Huckle goal, then beating Bradenhall Wanderers 2-1. Jordan Ramm and Harry Gagen scored the goals, although Wanderers’ Liam Jarvis was dismissed during the match.
TIAGO PASCOAL: SCORED AT WAVENEY......
A 1-2 success at Waveney, where Sam Childerhouse and Tiago Pascoal netted the all important goals was followed the club’s first defeat of the campaign, 4-3 at Wroxham Reserves. A brace by Childerhouse and one by Alex Curran weren’t enough for the Blues to salvage a point.
Next came a Mummery Cup tie at home to Acle United, which the Blues lost 2-4, with Gagen and Lagshan Sivakumar getting the goals.
ALEX CURRAN: A GOAL AT WROXHAM...
Last time out, yet another home game ended with a third consecutive defeat, 2-3 v Blofield United, with Sivakumar and Callum Edge grabbing the goals.
LAGSHAN SIVAKUMAR: SCORED AGAINST ACLE & BLOFIELD...
So the Blues have played only twice on the road and this weekend they are at home again at South Green…
The Magpies have won their first five league games in their first season at this level, plus a Mummery Cup tie too… A fine start, although changes to the personnel are likely this weekend due to a couple of dismissals recently…
Ben Coe and John Flanagan scored against Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers, who voted Magpie Liam Mitchell as MVP, then the team travelled to Mundford, winning 1-6. Sam Lammiman was chosen as MVP by the hosts, whilst Nathan Davies and Flanagan both scored twice, whilst Jack Defty and skipper Ed Tann nabbed one apiece.
JOHN FLANAGAN... |
Davies and Connor Young scored in a 0-2 victory at Wroxham Reserves, then Caister were beaten 4-2 at home, with goals by Young, Coe, Davies and Nathan Daw.
BEN COE... |
The Mummery Cup tie resulted in a 6-0 home win v Gorleston Reserves, the goals coming from Adam Reeve, Flanagan 2 and Coe with a hat-trick. Coe was duly acclaimed MVP…
LIAM MITCHELL... |
The most recent and incident packed encounter was a hard fought 3-2 success v Long Stratton at Heacham’s Station Road ground. A brace by Davies helped win the match for the Magpies but Davies and Coe were dismissed, meaning that the team might have to be shuffled for the match at Mattishall. Royce Rawlings was voted MVP on the day…
