'SEASALTER'S GROYNES' (KENT): WORDS ABUT SUE KING'S PAINTING, 'SEASALTER BEACH SUNSET'...

 Seasalter’s Groynes

(from Sue King’s painting, ‘Seasalter Beach Sunset’)

Groynes, startled by the luring eye

Within a Kent sunset, stand to,

Resilient to tides but seemingly

And perhaps reluctantly

Mesmerised by the kaleidoscopic myriad

Lurid reds, ambers, greys and creams

Of a burning evening sky.

As shallows lap at them, they audibly sigh

In awe of the sunset and then as silhouettes they accrue

An unique majesty: rather crudely

Weathered, ageing stalwarts, if slightly awry,

Of shipwrecks, storms and fearful dreams,

Which haunt from within the inferno’s hypnotic eye…
