BEWDLEY TOWN 0-5 WORCESTER CITY: WORDS ABOUT THE MATCH & 13 IMAGES...

 Confident City Dominate Building Bewdley…

Bewdley Town 0-5 Worcester City

The Mowdog’s thoughts…

Clearly Bewdley will be attempting to forge a squad together over the coming weeks, for despite some resolute defending, they were well beaten on the day by a Worcester outfit which often looked confident and indeed in some form.

A brace apiece for central striker Dylan Hart and flanker Liam Lockett did the damage, although in truth not very many goalscoring opportunities were crafted over the ninety minutes. Ex-Pershore defenders Logan Stoddart and Kirk Layton had slipped easily into the right side of the City defence, whilst Calvin Dinsley hunted round the midfield area like he hadn’t eaten for a week…

Josh Schuck at left-back was strong and assured throughout, whilst Danny Flowers and the other goalscorer Reiss Taylor-Randle made useful contributions in an easy victory.

Worcester goalie Haydn Whitcombe made one catching save from Ramsi Kilicaslan’s 18 yard shot but replacement ‘keeper Joe Stockton was basically redundant as Town struggled to create any meaningful offence after the interval. Josh Hinds, the Bewdley defender, along with Jake Whitehouse battled valiantly for the Riversiders but sheer effort alone wasn’t enough to rattle City.

Subsequently, despite some lighter moments by Town’s replacements, City’s substitutions didn’t affect the team’s overall superiority.

The goals…

Taylor-Randle side footed a low left-flank centre firmly inside the left stick from 12 yards to open the scoring, then some trickery from the same wing allowed Lockett to send defenders this way and that before shoving a low left-footed shot through defenders’ legs and into the bottom right corner of the net.

Goal three, immediately after the break was served up by Kyonn Evans, whose pass was controlled by Hart, 16 yards out at inside-right. His rising effort beat the leaping Jack Price and flew into the top left corner of the net, spectacularly.  Hart converted a penalty for goal four, after replacement Batchelor had been tripped by Bewdley’s 14 (maybe Hubert Katorski?) Price dived low and right but the spot-kick beat him… The penalised Town player seemed unfortunate to be cautioned for the challenge but the main official did rather referee the match ‘by the book’, cautioning two other players and sin-binning Evans soon after the forward had assisted Hart for goal three…

Lockett curled a waist high free-kick from downtown just inside the right post for the last goal but Price was likely unsighted at first and was unable to get across to save the shot.

Final words…

The rain was light at first, then sunshine appeared to allow some spectators to enjoy a warm late afternoon on the touchlines after earlier huddling in the grandstand…

A good welcome yet again from Bewdley…

Thanks for that…
