CITRUS FIRE IN NEWLYN... (My poem inspired by a Jenny Aitken painting...)

 Citrus Fire In Newlyn…

(From a Jenny Aitken painting…)

Mounts Bay sky billows citrus fire

At sunrise,

Scattering gulls to blemishes, silhouetted

Against the burn.

Beam trawlers tug and fidget their ire

At the quayside tethering,

Livery scarred and weathering,

Masts and gear seemingly ablaze

In the Mounts Bay sky, breathing citrus fire

At sunrise…
