EDWIN APPEARS THOUGHTFUL... |
"After making 3 changes to Saturday's squad: Rich for Dave, Jamie for Ben and Rob for Coxy, we started the game brightly but without being any threat to the Cadbury goal.
Cadbury themselves were making things difficult for us but also never really troubled Rich either. After 15 minutes the game came to life when Pierre and Josh linked up for Josh to score. Cadbury put us under a little more pressure and forced a few corners, but generally the 1st half was uneventful.
In the 2nd half we improved and created several chances, but a mixture of poor finishing, good goalkeeping and good defending meant we were unable to add to our lead.
We were made to pay for those missed chances as Cadbury scored 2 goals in quick succession. Chasing the game, we still created more chances but we were unable to take any of them.
In summing up this game, it has been said before and will be said again, that teams raise their games against us. We were by no means at our best in this game and it's been shown before, if we are not near our best, we will be beaten.
There are several good teams in this division who are more than capable of beating any team on any day.
We created enough chances on the night to win this game, we didn't take them and Cadbury took theirs, so well done to them.
We have done the same thing to teams this season, so no complaints from me.
I have spoken to the players and we know what is expected of us all... We slipped below our own standards set this season.
We lost our 1st league away game this season after 9 wins and we have bounced back from defeats before. We have 16 more games, 16 more battles, 16 more Cup Finals to play.
Back in August if anybody had offered me this position we find ourselves in now, I would gladly have taken it. All along I have said that we would take things 'One Game At A Time' and nothing changes after this game.
We will just focus on our next game and learn from our mistakes, as we have done previously after a setback.
Before I go I would like to THANK the Red and Green Army who travelled to watch us... It wasn't our finest hour but we will bounce back:
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT."
