The pitch was almost unplayable in my opinion but we were happy for the game to go ahead, so there were no complaints. The game started in a lively fashion and Racing set out their intent with a few tasty challenges going in.
With the pitch being heavy, it was difficult for us to play our usual free-flowing football and we needed the first goal to settle us down. A great cross in by Coxy resulted in Matty Brown, who is on fire at the minute, heading home.
We added a second goal shortly after, which was thoroughly deserved. I felt we took our foot of the gas then, Racing created a couple of good chances and it could have easily been 2-1 going into half time.
We started the second-half brightly and once Chris Cox scored the 3rd goal, the game was won. Racing got a consolation goal but in the end we probably should have won by a larger margin with some good chances going begging.
Overall it was a good team performance and we ground out the 3 points on a difficult playing surface. That's all that matters at the minute and we go into the Hinckley game full of confidence on the back of these results. I'm sure they will be looking for revenge after the reverse league fixture earlier in the season, so it should be another good test for us."
