EDWIN: disappointed with the result... |
"Jet Blades got the game underway but after their move broke down, we went on the offensive. A Macauleigh Richards header fell to Liam Cawley who went on a run, before his long range shot found the bottom corner of the net: 1-0.
Getting a goal in the 1st minute was a great start to the game for us. Jet Blades responded with some long range shots but nothing on target at this stage. Although we were in front we were never comfortable and Jet Blades dictated the play and tempo of the game.
In the 39th minute Jet Blades got the goal their play deserved with a finish from inside the 6 yard box: 1-1.
In the 45th minute Jet Blades were awarded a penalty when Neil Guest was adjudged to have committed a foul after clearing the ball. Daniel Mallinson saved the resulting penalty but our joy was short lived as Jet Blades scored with their next attack from a free header at the back post: 1-2.
Half-time 1-2.
The 2nd half began and we were forced into a change in the 52nd minute when Sam Wade was replaced by Scott Lindley. In the 56th minute a long ball forward from Jet Blades stayed in play and the cross to the back post was headed in: 1-3.
In the 61st minute Ryan Jones was replaced by Bredley Cuttiford.
In the 84th minute a defensive mistake was punished by Jet Blades: 1-4.
On 90 minutes a Macauleigh Richards free-kick hit a post and Viqas Yusaf was on hand to put the ball over the line: 2-4.
Full-time: 2-4.
In summing up this game:
After getting off to the best possible start in this game, overall we were below the standard we have been playing at recently. Jet Blades played the better football, created more opportunities than we did over the 90 minutes and deserved their victory.
The lads tried hard but it was really only during the last 15 minutes that we put Jet Blades under any real pressure. We kept going to the end and although disappointed with the result I have no complaints; the better team won on the day.
All the best to Jet Blades for the remainder of the season, but as for us, we will just dust ourselves down and try to collect as many points as possible before the end of the season.
We have 9 league games left now and it would be nice to try and climb a little higher in the table if possible...
On to the next game..."
