'WORN': POEM ABOUT MAWGAN PORTH BEACH...

Worn

Stubborn marram grass,
Brushed by a landward breeze
Has tightened its grip
Upon buff dunes:
Ragged, ravaged and reduced
By Atlantic storms, which have deposited
Their clustered, grey stones at its feet;
A fatal reminder of what truly
Scatter the Runes…

Bedraggled marram ledges,
Hacked by a lashing ocean
Have conceded more ground
To violent tides:
Thrashed, thrown and thundered
Upon idyllic sand, which has receded
With buffeted, worn paths in defeat;
A tragic reminder of what true
Nature cruelly contrives…
