SEASONAL GREETINGS TO EDWIN & BRINKLOW FC FROM Pete & The Bodging... |
In the 6th minute Jordan Hayward passed to Gabriel Gbadebo but this time he shot wide. We had a couple of other efforts too: a Lloyd Pulford header went wide and a Liam Cawley free-kick also went just wide.
Jet Blades started to come into the game a bit more but a couple of their efforts also failed to hit the target. Neither goalkeeper was really tested as the 1st half ended 0-0.
The 2nd half got underway and it wasn't long before Jet Blades' Number 3 got sent off for a late challenge on Lenon Diza.
In the 54th minute though Jet Blades took the lead against the run of play when we failed to deal with a cross into our box: 1-0.
In the 65th minute we thought we had equalised when a Liam Cawley shot hit the crossbar and Fabian Spence followed in to head the rebound into a empty net, but to our disappointment he was given offside.
On 70 minutes Gabriel Gbadebo was replaced by Scott McCulloch.
Scott McCulloch made an immediate inpact with a cross to Benny Adeeko but somehow the Jet Blades goalkeeper kept it out.
In the 76th minute the Jet Blades' goalkeeper again kept us out, this time from a Fabian Spence shot.
We continued to press forward against the 10 men of Jet Blades with crosses from Scott McCulloch and Jordan Hayward causing loads of problems.
In the 81st minute Lenon Diza was replaced by Mario Farrugia but in the 85th minute Jet Blades caught us on the break as we were pushing for an equaliser.
Full-time: 2-0.
In summing up this game:
Our last game of 2016 and we tried everything we could to get those 3 points. Again the lads gave me everything they had and although we lost the game, the performance from the lads again makes me proud. Today we found a Jet Blades goalkeeper in very good form and it just wasn't our day in front of goal.
The players called into today's squad can be very happy with their individual performances and our general team play was good over 90 minutes.
Fair play to Jet Blades who even when they went down to 10 men, kept going forward when the opportunity was given to them and I wish them all the best for the remainder of their season.
As for us, we now have a couple of weeks off for our Christmas break and then we have our remaining 7 league games to complete.
I would like to wish you all A Happy Christmas and A Happy New year..."
