'EASTERN BLACK REDSTART': A NEW POEM...

Eastern Black Redstart

He was keen-eyed like a Robin,
Rather sharp-billed and astute,
His coal bib looked quite ruffled
But his countenance remained resolute…

His flutterings were somewhat tetchy,
His under-feathers showed lush and red,
Contrasting with the yellow lichen
On Mousehole’s boulders of dread…

Yet incongruously he posed for cameras,
His intriguing gaze intense,
Displaying no doubt ‘his good side’
And precociously creating suspense…

Brought in by unusual weather conditions Eastern Black Redstarts appeared in Mousehole…

Beautiful.
