I understand from a source that Brinklow had 7 players unavailable, but typical of the man, Edwin has refused to mention this in his assessment below... |
"Stockton got the game underway and it took them only 2 minutes to break through our defence: 1-0. Stockton then doubled their lead in the 15th minute with a free header in the box: 2-0.
Our only attempt on goal on target was a Lloyd Pulford free-kick in the 33rd minute, from which the Stockton 'keeper pulled off a fine save.
Half-time: 2-0.
In the 2nd half a couple of good saves from Daniel Mallinson kept us in the game but in the 64th minute a long ball forward caught us on the break: 3-0.
In the 77th minute Manny Dhesi was replaced by Viqas Yusaf.
83rd minute: 4-0.
85th minute: 5-0.
89th minute: 6-0.
Full-time: 6-0...
In summing up this game:
I tried something different today and it didn't work for me over 90 minutes. We conceaded an early goal and from that moment we were always chasing this game without ever really threatening the Stockton goal.
Stockton won this game convincingly and they throughly deserved their win. I think the final score was a little harsh on us but I have no complaints.
The players once again gave me everything they had and that again pleases me. We still have areas in our play that we need to improve on and as a team will will try to do this as quickly as possible.
We will dust ourselves down and try to come back stronger next week.
All the best to all at Stockton for the remainder of the season.
On to the next game..."
