AFC BINLEY'S MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 2-0 LOSS TO COUNDON COURT OLD BOYS...

"Binley got the game underway and both sides played attractive football on a very good pitch.
In a very closely fought 1st half it took until the 28th minute before the first clear-cut opportunity arose for either team.

That opportunity fell to Tyler Morgan who beat two defenders before unfortunately shooting straight at the goalkeeper, who saved with his legs.

Coundon came to life and their number 9 shot over from a good position in the 30th minute.

In the 35th minute Coundon came even closer to scoring when their number 2 headed against the crossbar and the ball went over for a goal-kick.

In the 44th minute Dave Simpson was forced to pull off an excellent save to keep Coundon out."

Half-time: Coundon Court Old Boys
0-0 AFC Binley...

"Coundon got the 2nd half started and again both sides continued to play good, attractive football in a very entertaining game.

There was still nothing between the two sides and Ryan Lally shot over the target in the 62nd minute.

In the 67th minute Kevin Clamp was replaced by Zach Garland.

In the 73rd minute Coundon took the lead with a fine low shot from the left which gave Dave Simpson no chance in goal: 1-0.

Justin Lang was replaced by Bennie Adeeko.

In the 89th minute we had a corner which Bennie Adeeko headed wide.

In the 90th minute Dave Simpson was caught in possession and Coundon scored: 2-0..."

2-0 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"This was a great game of football for the neutral and there was not much between the two sides.

For me, we paid the price for not taking our chances, however there were more positives for me to take out of today's performance.

Today we played some of our best football of the season and we are getting closer to where I need us to be. However, it is our 2nd defeat in our opening 5 games, which isn't a great start.

All the best to Coundon Court Old Boys for the rest of the season.

Up next for us is another midweek game on Tuesday night, at home to Brinklow."

Edwin Greaves,
AFC Binley Manager.
