QUEEN SHEBA GOLD: A NEW POEM ABOUT SOMETHING OLD...

Queen Sheba Gold

I wondered which scribe’s
Nib dipped with care
Into the wondrous gold ink
Then had sparingly, lovingly, yet craftily
Transferred it onto smooth vellum,
Creating words of art and beauty:
Deliciously, artistically, yet stoically…

I wondered which writer’s
Pen had leaned there
Inside the bottled gold ink
Then had caringly, reverently, yet warily
Flowed it across rich vellum,
Forming letters of love and duty:
Religiously, stylistically, yet whimsically…

An old glass Queen Sheba Gold ink bottle, apparently dug up in Lincolnshire, which I was able to purchase from BamboozlikArt in Lincoln.

There is still gold ink inside and I wondered who had used it…
