FIREPLACE IMAGININGS: THE OLD COASTGUARD, MOUSEHOLE...

Fireplace Imaginings, The Old Coastguard, Mousehole…



It looked as if covered wagons
Had formed their tight defensive circle
To protect lives and livelihoods
During the long Oregon trail west
By early American settlers and pioneers... 

It looked though as if the wagoneers 
Had been harassed by Shoshone warriors,
Their stretched canvas covers set alight
And wagons to the ground to ashes razed
By flaming arrows in a conflagration,
A terrifying, torturing, territorial blaze...

A piece of kindling added to the winter fire in the Old Coastguard’s dining room. 


It reminded me of a burning pioneer’s wagon in America...
