"I thought that today we tried to play football wherever we could on a pitch that wasn’t really conducive to a passing game.
DANKS SHOOTS... |
...& SCORES... |
We put them on the back foot for most of the first-half and I think they struggled to cope with our front four and our attacking mentality. In fairness, in both halves Dunkirk did have chances which is something I wasn’t particularly happy about and we need to work on restricting those opportunities moving forward.
Dom Richards in our goal was again magnificent in keeping a clean sheet and I thought Joe Hanson at right back deserves a mention for his defensive display.
I think that once Danksy's rocket flies into the top corner early in the half, we kicked on from there and went into half-time with a commanding and well deserved 3-0 lead.
In reality we couldn’t keep up the tempo we showed in that first-half for a full ninety minutes and the game was never going to have a glut of goals from us in the second half.
I thought we rode through a period when they could easily have scored and then we ourselves could have been more clinical in front of goal towards the end. The pleasing thing is a clean sheet and three points and we are now getting into a league position that more than warrants the talent that we have in this squad."
