STREET FC v BARNSTAPLE TOWN: GAME PREVIEW...

I will be making my first visit to Street FC tomorrow for a New Year’s Day fixture in the Southern League Division One South…

It's a long drive from Solihull…

Street welcome Barnstaple Town to the Tannery but with the Cobblers in 7th place in the league, having won 9, drawn 4 and lost 5 of their 18 league matches thus far, they will certainly be looking to defeat bottom of the table Barum, who have won just 3 and lost 17 of their 20 games. A goal difference of +9 for Street compares rather favourably with Barnstaple’s unfortunate -38…

Street are coming off a 1-3 victory on the road at Fleet last Saturday, where Steve Murray and Phil Ormrod shared the goals.

PHIL ORMROD...

Stuart Cameron netted Barnstaple’s consolation in a 1-3 home defeat by Moneyfields, with Steve Johns getting the most valuable player award for the Barum.

It was odd to see the name George Nancekivell on Barnstaple's team sheet for their last game and my mind went back to a pre-season match in which Tiverton Town beat Plymouth Argyle, comfortably... Kevin Nancekivell was so influential that Argyle signed him and he played league football for a while in a Pilgrims shirt...

And of course Jamie Short is also ex-Tivvy, who might just be wearing the green of Street tomorrow...

Coverage of the match will be HERE from Wednesday, with a full report, images, screenshots and a movie of game highlights…

The mascot for the match will be 5 year old Jace Webberley who was born with cerebral palsy and his family is raising funds for expensive treatment which is not available on the NHS here.

Street will be holding a collection at the game and will promote awareness of the fundraising efforts. Contributions will be gratefully received to help Jace and his family have a great day at the Tannery…

Jace could have an operation called ‘Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy’ which involves cutting nerves in his lower spine, reducing spasticity and weakening the core muscles.

After intensive physiotherapy to strengthen the muscles again, Jace should be able to stand and walk unaided…

More information about Jace may be found on Twitter: @JacesSDRJourney or at the accompanying website,
