SILENCE, FEAR & UNEASE IN PADSTOW: A NEW POEM...

Silence, Fear & Unease In Padstow…

Silence was the quay,
As vessels barely shifted
Upon a placid, dark tide,
Their hulls scarcely lifted
By an absence of wash,
As they lay moored, side by side…

Fear was the key,
As vehicles, left askew and awry
With no valid ticket displayed,
Hid from a narked officer’s zealous eye,
From whose violation pack and wrath
They cringed, ownerless and afraid…

Unease was the key around the quay,
As nightlife was restricted,
Daring one to intrude;
 Thus I too became afflicted
By the general January Padstow malaise
And its silent, fearsome, uneasy solitude…
