AFC BINLEY'S MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES ASSESSES HIS TEAM'S 0-2 WIN AT GURDWARA GNP...

"Gurdwara GNP got the new season underway and started the game at a very high tempo.

In the 11th minute the GNP number 10 had a free-kick just outside the box which was tipped onto the crossbar by Ryan Oldham.

We then had a corner taken by Andy Godfrey in the 13th minute which was headed wide by Kenroy Dennisur.

The GNP number 9 had the best chance of the game to date when he was through 1 on 1 but he shot wide in the 18th minute.

GNP's 8 had the next chance but shot straight at Ryan Oldham and Kenroy Dennisur cleared the danger.

In the 27th minute Bennie Adeeko was substituted due to injury and was replaced by Tatenda Bako.

GNP's 9 had another opportunity to open the scoring but again shot wide when through 1 on 1 in the 29th minute.

Our best chance came when Blake Kassar forced a full length save from the GNP goalkeeper in the 32nd minute.

Just before half-time a misplaced pass from Ben Ryder gave the GNP number 8 the opportunity to score but Ryan Oldham pulled off a good save."

Half-time: Gurdwara GNP 0-0 AFC Binley...

"The 2nd half started and in the 53rd minute we took the lead when a Danny Vincent pass found Blake Kassar who beat two GNP defenders before scoring from a very difficult angle: 0-1.

More chances followed with Blake Kassar & Tyler Morgan both being denied by the GNP goalkeeper.

In the 59th minute Danny Vincent was replaced by Justin Lang.

In the 69th minute we doubled our lead when Justin Lang found Blake Kassar who outpaced a GNP defender to finish well: 0-2.

More chances continued to be created by us with Ben Ryder and Tyler Morgan shooting wide from good positions.

GNP's goalkeeper then denied Andy Godfrey and Justin Lang before Ryan Oldham was forced to pull off a good save in the 77th minute.

In the 82nd minute Mtshuza Ncube was replaced by Leon Higgs.

More opportunities were saved by the GNP goalkeeper from Tyler Morgan and Blake Kassar."

Full-time: Gurdwara GNP 0-2 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"Gurdwara GNP started very quickly and had the better chances in the 1st half but luckily for us they didn't take them.

We went in at half-time still level but in the 2nd half we were able to control the game better and we took our chances when they arose.

I am so pleased to have got our first victory but today showed me what I already knew: that we have a tough season ahead of us...

Although we came out of this game with a win, on another day that first half performance would have left us with too much to do.

We still need to improve and get better but I believe that we will and the lads certainly showed a lot of spirit and fight in this contest.

Good luck to all at Gurdwara GNP for the rest of the season."
