LONG CRENDON FC v WOKINGHAM & EMMBROOK: THE MATCH PREVIEW...

A first visit to watch Long Crendon at home on Saturday coincides with a first opportunity to watch Wokingham & Emmbrook play too, which is a strange one because whilst studying P.E. at Bulmershe College, Reading in 1970, I was in digs for a few weeks behind the Rifle Volunteer pub' and indeed in Lowther Close, so near to where the Sumas' updated ground is now situated.

WOKINGHAM'S GROUND...

My mate Charlie Watts and I saw a number of football league games at Aldershot, Reading and Charlie's team Swindon Town during our time staying first at Miss Mather's house, then at the Easthampstead Park campus, before finding accommodation on Bracknell's Great Hollands estate.
HAPPY DAYS FOR LONG CRENDON...

However, these two Hellenic League Division 1 East team are locked just about in mid-table thus far this term. Long Crendon lie 12th in the league with 2 wins and 2 defeats from their 4 games and a goal difference of -1, whilst visitors Wokingham are just one place above them in 11th, with 2 wins and a loss from their 3 matches and boasting a goal difference of +5.

An early Bluefin Challenge Cup tie for Crendon was drawn 1-1 with Holyport but Harry Pettingell's goal wasn't enough, as the lads went out 5-6 on penalties. A 2-0 loss at Didcot Town Development in the league, where Ben Sykes was dismissed, was followed by a 0-1 home defeat to guests and current league leaders Risborough Rangers, before a 1-2 win at Thame Rangers, courtesy of strikes by Nathan Brownsword and Tom White put the team back on track.
NATHAN BROWNSWORD: SCORED AT THAME RANGERS......

An FA Vase success after overtime against Langley by 4-3 saw Martin Griggs grab a brace and James Hawkes and Christian Warwick one each, before a fine win on the road at Wallingford Town kept the better form going this week and the important goals were claimed by Griggs and Hawkes again.
JAMES HAWKES: SCORED AGAINST LANGLEY & WALLINGFORD...

Wokingham's Bluefin Cup challenge began with a 1-2 win at Penn & Tylers Green, the goals being scored by Luke Scope and Jake White, then a 2-0 league victory over AFC Aldermaston saw White net again, along with Adam Edwards.
JAKE WHITE: 7 GOALS SO FAR THIS TERM...

However, Chalvey Sports left Lowther Road with a 1-2 win, White netting the hosts' consolation goal and then it was back to Bluefin action for the Sumas with a 0-3 success at Chinnor, courtesy of goals by White, Chris Hood and Elliott Rushforth.
ELLIOTT RUSHFORTH: SCORED AGAINST  CHINNOR, MILTON UNITED & CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN...

A 5-1 win in the league v Milton United (goals by White 2, Rushforth, Ben Broadhurst and Nick Bateman) was followed up by a 2-1 victory after overtime in the FA Vase v Chipping Sodbury Town last weekend. White yet again and Rushforth grabbed the goals to secure a safe passage to the next round.

There will be coverage of the game between the Greens and the Sumas from Sunday HERE with a full match report, images, screenshots and video highlights with commentary...
