PADSTOW CALM, 14TH JANUARY 2020: A NEW POEM...

Padstow Calm, 14th January 2020…

Five hours had passed,
The harbour was silent.
The sky was clear, the wind all but gone,
There was peace amongst the masts
 And limp flags loosely streamed;
The calm became eerie, yet potent,
The wharves were deserted,
The January moon shone
And Ursa Major, the Plough gleamed…

Earlier gales had been resisted,
Their steely wrath suitably abated;
An incongruous calm now persisted,
The storm’s rage temporarily sated…
FAIR WEATHER LATER IN THE WEEK...

January 2020

Following such a wild day, that evening in Padstow was remarkably quiet, almost still and I saw maybe three people as I walked around the harbour at around 8.30pm…

A transformation…
