LIZARD LIONESS LINGERS...

 Lizard Lioness Lingers…



Hewn from ancient rock,

Much of it streaked by serpentine,

She watches with phlegmatic acceptance,

As black shards hide beneath seething surf,

Awaiting sodden hulls of surging prey;

And her whiskers twitch

With the promise of carrion,

A drifting carcass surfing ashore

To be crushed by mighty craggy claws

Then devoured amidst the spilling spray...

A cliff face, which bore a remarkable resemblance to the profile of a lioness, at Lizard. 


Tides smacked onto the dangerous black outcrops of rock, were thrown upwards and accompanying winds thumped at the land…
