Badger Grabs Trophy Rabbit…
It was rather like watching
A family dog jousting
With its favourite soft toy
Between jaws’ clenched teeth
And shaking it about, frivolously,
Charismatically, playfully,
Or perhaps callously,
Growling and flailing its canine head
About and gripping its toy like a trophy…
It was really rather shocking,
An adult badger jousting
With a dead rabbit, like a toy
Between jaws’ clamped teeth
And thrashing it about, ominously,
Proudly, unceremoniously,
Or perhaps jealously,
Romping and tossing its omnivorous head
And wrenching at its toy like a trophy…

Remarkable clip from 19th July at Temple Balsall of a badger swinging a dead rabbit from between its powerful jaws and yet, the other members of its cete took absolutely no notice of it at all…
