Reclining & Scratching…
It reclined upon dry dirt, unabashed
In moments of utter pleasure,
Scuffling its coat against the dusty ground,
Totally, amusingly, at its leisure…
It splayed its legs and revealed its belly,
The ecstasy plain and endearing,
As with digging claws it scratched with fervour,
Lounging in a shallow sun-dried clearing…
It rocked and rolled from side to side,
Its reckless behaviour seemingly joyful:
A cartoon characterisation of its private ablutions
