Light, colour and solace
Have been added to Wells-
Next-the-Sea, so that virtual masks
Of low-tide serenity
And idyll clothe the scene,
Like a vintage postcard luring
Visitors and procuring
Interest in its poignant grace
And all that its maritime heritage tells…
Vessels, moored and pacific
Lie anticipating
The next high tide,
Tethered, awaiting
Too their fisherfolk, absent
Like all humanity
From the placid and potent
Ocean-front panoramic…
