Shuffle-bottoms…
Nettles bothered ankle skin
During the waiting.
Asthmatic pigeon wheezed nearby,
The repetition grating.
Blackbird’s rich, melodious phrases
Sounded assertive, addictive and berating, which
Sweetened the cool breeze
During the anticipating…
Badgers shuffled their bottoms
In their retreating,
Charismatic in their anxiety, yet coy,
The shyness entreating.
The scuffling and snuffling in phases
Seemed evasive, evocative and repeating, which
Stiffened the ill at ease
In their eating…
Suddenly statuesque.
As one, alert.
Expressions grotesque.
The exit curt.
Bottoms shuffled,
Short legs scuffled
From interference
To disappearance…
