End Of The Day, Brora… ( My new poem, inspired by Rosanne Barr’s fine painting of the same name…)

 End Of The Day, Brora…

(Inspired by Rosanne Barr’s fine painting…)

Eyes take in the hues at first, luscious pastel shades

As if the canvas has been painted, crafted with abstract

Sunset strokes, their layers settling like coloured sand

Striped and packaged inside a decorative jar.

Yet soon a stunning seascape slowly clarifies below

A sky spewing glorious colour which reaches out then fades

To pale yellows, pinks and peach, whose angled entrails refract.

A stark, grey sliver of land extends like a ghost of a scar,

A spear inserted into the splendid, flamboyant, vivid  glow…

14th January 2024…

Loved this painting…

At first I noticed the colour, the stripes, the abstract then suddenly I saw the sunset, the seascape and the bay, which was a total surprise…
