MEVAGISSEY... (My new poem inspired by Georgie Harrison's painting...)

 Mevagissey…

(Inspired by Georgie Harrison’s painting…)

The quivering reflection of a small vessel, ready

For encroachment into an ocean’s benign threat,

Its simple hull a startling lurid blue,

Lies moored but bobbing in Mevagissey’s quay.

The harbour rests placid in sunlight bright and heady,

As backdrop dwellings rise like a spotlit theatrical set,

Each one huddling and showing off its painted hue,

Leaning and hustling for a view of the tidal sea…

The quaint jumble of buildings hint of a former life,

Highlighting the absence of hustle and human strife…

23rd January 2024…

Love the yellows of the cabin’s roof and buoys on board, contrasting smartly with the blues of the hull, the sea and the summer sky…

Lovely image.

My two images of Mevagissey are from 2016 and 2020…
