DUBAI LE MANS... (My poem about construction machinery, rather than racing cars, in Dubai, 2007...)

 Dubai Le Mans…

Competitors crouched

On their marks.

Labourers, roadside,

Preparing to cut a dusty dash

Across drifting sand

To bucketed diggers

And yellow bulldozers

And caterpillar wheels,

Lined up and snarling,

Preparing to cut through desert trash…

Pete Ray…

April 2007 & line of such vehicles was visible each morning and evening as I passed en route to Arabian Ranches or downtown Dubai.

It reminded me of the start of a Le Mans motor race.

The labourers crouched in their wait for buses…

Saddened me.
