ICE ON MAWGAN PORTH BEACH...

 Ice On Mawgan Porth Beach…

As the bright morning glinted

On the flushing, incoming tide

My boots crackled, splintering

A gossamer thin layer of beach ice

Beneath the blinding morning glare

Of sunlight, at which early spring was hinted.

Obscurely I jogged on snapping sand

And boot-surfed across the ice,

Skidding, sliding, just two metres spanned,

Thus crushing it all in a trice…

Mawgan Porth beach, 23rd February, 2018.

There was frost on some dry sand.

Some wet, damp sand had become coated with very thin ice which crackled beneath my boots.

I ran and slid, like on an icy pavement in my childhood…

Loved it…
