Stormy Portobello…
(Inspired by another Sarah Evans painting…)
The figures on the harshly weathered sand, plundered
By a rogue sea-tide, only serve to extenuate the enormity
Of Portobello’s storm-battered coastline, overseen by a gale,
Blowing, tousling, teeming and wildly spiralling the sullen rain.
Grim, craggy outcrops of rock deflect the currents and take the strain
Of the lashing ocean and yet, looking at the surging surf, I cannot fail
To harbour a desire to bodyboard there and feel the sea’s intensity
Powering me landward, as behind me the roar of violent waves thundered…
