THE AFC BINLEY MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 1-4 LOSS TO COVENTRIANS...

“In this Bedworth Nursing Cup-tie, Coventrians got the game underway and started very well, playing some attractive football. They took an early lead in the 10th minute when their number 10 turned Sebastian Kassar in the box to finish smartly: 0-1.

In the 19th minute Kyle Metcalfe was replaced by David Simpson.

In the 22nd minute we equalised against the run of play when Bennie Adeeko closed down the goalkeeper before passing the loose ball for Tyler Morgan to scorer from close range: 1-1.

After missing a couple more opportunities Coventrians regained the lead in the 33rd minute when their number 11 finished well.

Coventrians continued to control the game and their number 7 had a great opportunity to increase their lead but fortunately for us he headed wide.

Just before half-time we conceded again with another good Coventrians goal.”

Half-time: AFC Binley 1-3 Coventrians…

“We began the 2nd half but again found ourselves on the back foot as Coventrians continued to cause us problems.

In the 51st minute a mistake from Ryan Oldham let in Coventrians but luckily Liam Roach produced some good defending to clear off the goal-line.

Our best opportunity came and went when Bennie Adeeko shot over the target from close range in the 55th minute.
In the 71st minute Coventrians put the game to bed with another excellent team move and goal: 1-4.

Zach Garland and Samuel Zengeya were replaced by Blake Kassar and Sean Ryder, and Blake Kassar did have an opportunity cleared off the goal-line but there were no more goals.”

Full-time: AFC Binley 1-4 Coventrians…

In Summing Up This Game:

“Today was a good test for my lads against an MFL side that really played some good attractive football.

The difference between the two sides today was the finishing. Coventrians were excellent in front of goal when given any opportunities.

We did our best and certainly didn't disgrace ourselves today but when you try your best and end up losing, you cannot complain.

It was nice to catch up with some friends at Coventrians and I wish them all the best in the next round of this great competition, and also for the rest of their season.”

AFC Binley Manager…
