NEWENT TOWN'S MANAGER BEN STRINGER COMMENTS ON HIS TEAM'S 2-2 DRAW v UPTON TOWN ON SATURDAY...

“I thought that the game started very well for us, we played with intensity and managed to get two goals in quick succession. Then we went into a water-break, which didn’t help us and we took our foot off the gas, yet I had warned the lads about that after our brief chat…

Upton then grew into the game, as we allowed them too much room. With Upton then firing in a well worked goal, we struggled to regain a foothold in the match.

Upton fully deserved a draw and maybe could have had more, had it not been for our ‘keeper. We came away a bit deflated, having not killed off the game when we should have but I think we realise that it was a valuable lesson learned going into the season…”
