AFC BINLEY'S MANAGER EDWIN GREAVES REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 1-4 WIN AT CHRIST THE KING RESERVES...

Game 4:

"Christ The King got the game underway and played the ball around nicely, looking dangerous when going forward.

After getting a couple of early corners CTK were awarded a penalty when Kenroy Dennisur committed a foul in the 18 yard box & their number 14 scored the spot-kick: 1-0.

CTK almost doubled their lead from another corner but their number 15 headed over the crossbar, unchallenged.

It wasn't until the 15th minute that we caused CTK any problems at all, when Melusi Mazwi passed to Blake Kassar and he forced a good save out of the goalkeeper, but the resulting corner came to nothing.

Ryan Oldham was later forced into a good save and CTK's number 15 shot wide.

Tyler Morgan shot straight at the goalkeeper for Binley and in added time, CTK's number 14 shot over the target."

Half-time: CTK Res 1-0 AFC Binley...

"For the second-half, Melusi Mazwi was replaced by Justin Lang and in the 47th minute, Andy Godfrey crossed but Kenroy Dennisur headed over the crossbar from close range.

In the 49th minute we were awarded a controversial penalty when Blake Kassar was adjudged to have been fouled by the CTK goalkeeper. Tyler Morgan took the penalty and scored: 1-1.

The CTK 16 shot just wide, before Justin Lang passed to Blake Kassar, who finished well: 1-2.

More chances went astray when Andy Godfrey set up Tatenda Bako, who shot wide and then Robert Turrall assisted Tyler Morgan, who was denied by the CTK goalkeeper.

Brian Ndlovu was replaced by Will Waddell and then the CTK number 5 shot over the bar, before Will Waddell set up Blake Kassar to again finish well: 1-3.

Justin Lang then created a chance for Tyler Morgan who was again denied by the CTK goalkeeper, before an Andy Godfrey cross in the 87th minute found Steven Young, who scored:
1-4.

Will Waddell forced another save out of the CTK goalkeeper before Ryan Oldham was forced into a good save himself when a CTK player's shot looked to be heading towards the top corner of the net."

Full-time: Christ The King Res 1-4 AFC Binley...

In Summing Up This Game:

"The old cliché, 'a game of two halves' comes to mind.

CTK Res bossed the first-half and were good value for their lead, causing us problems with their passing and approach play. So half-time couldn't come quickly enough for me.

During the second-half we were a different team, we caused CTK problems and although we were fortunate to get back into the game with a penalty, we scored three other good goals.

We finished the game very strongly and clinched the points we desperately needed against the only unbeaten side in our division.

After our opening day defeat, we have now managed to win 3 games on the bounce and that's an excellent way for the lads to respond.

Today's win against a good CKS side shows the lads can dig deep and come out at the other side. I am so proud of these boys and hopefully we can now kick on from here.

If we can quickly improve further, I still think we have more to offer but for now I will settle for my players giving me everything they have.

Best of luck to everyone at Christ The King Reserves for the remainder of the season.

The Miners Arms M.o.M today was Blake Kassar... Well done Blake!"
