COLESHILL TOWN v WANTAGE TOWN, MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER: THE PREVIEW...

 Coleshill Town v Wantage Town:

The Preview…

My first visit this season to Pack Meadow sees visitors Wantage Town make the trip north on a damp November evening to take on Coleshill Town…

Full coverage of the game will be at themowdog.blogspot.co.uk from Tuesday, which will include video highlights with commentary, a full independent match report and some images, depending on the light conditions at the ground.

The Colemen haven’t experienced the best of starts to the season and apart from conceding two goals in the last minute of two away games (at Barton Rovers and at North Leigh, both 1-0 losses), the team has scored just 5 league goals, leaving them with a goals ratio of -6, having conceded 11. They have accumulated 6 points…

COLESHILL SKIPPER JOE HALSALL...

They currently lie 17th in the league table with 2 wins and 5 losses from their 7 matches and their recent form is 2 defeats and a victory. First they lost 1-4 at home to Aylesbury United, with Daniel Dubidat scoring for Coleshill, then the lads won 2-0 at Pack Meadow v Biggleswade FC, the goals coming from Gio Dainty and Max Brogan. Most recently, that 1-0 defeat at North Leigh must have been sickening…

MAX BROGAN: SCORED v BIGGLESWADE...

On Saturday, the Colemen played an FA Trophy match at Bromsgrove Sporting and came away with a fine 0-1 victory, courtesy of a James Harrison strike in the 88th minute...

DANIEL DUBIDAT: LEADS THE SCORERS...

Top goalscorer in the league is Dubidat with 2, followed by Dainty, Brogan and Ethan Mannion with 1 apiece…

'KEEPER PAUL HATHAWAY...

Manager Cameron Stuart writes:

"Not a great start to the season, losing on penalties in the FA Cup, after dominating the match was tough to take.

Two undeserved 1-0 defeats in the first two games were also tough to take, for we certainly didn't deserve to beaten in either.

We have been a bit hit and miss since then though and sit below mid-table. We have also suffered like other clubs, with injuries to key players but with a few coming back to full fitness now, we hope to start to get back to where we know we can be over the next few weeks..."

Wantage, the Alfredians, lie 11th in the league with 3 wins and 4 losses from their 7 matches, their goals ratio is 13-18 and they have amassed 9 points.

KAI MAHON: A BRACE v AFC DUNSTABLE...

An up and down beginning to the new season has seen some odd results, like a 5-0 reverse at Berkhamsted, where, strangely, Coleshill won 0-1… The last three league games have seen a 3-1 home win v AFC Dunstable, with Kai Mahon notching a brace and Jack Alexander nabbing the other goal. Then came the defeat at Berko, before Ryan Knight netted an 89th minute penalty last time out, to defeat Thame United 3-2. The other goals were scored by Tom Middlehurst and Marley Hamilton.

JACK ALEXANDER: 3 LEAGUE GOALS THIS TERM...

On Friday evening, the Alfredians played a home FA Trophy tie v North Leigh, which they lost 1-4, with Knight scoring the consolation goal…

RYAN KNIGHT: 3 LEAGUE GOALS SO FAR...

Goalscorers in the league this season are: Knight and Alexander with 3 each, Mahon and Declan Shepperd both with 2, whilst Middlehurst, Hamilton and Tom Ballard all have 1…

Head coach James Keller writes:

“From my point of view, it’s great to see the lads buying into what we are trying to do at the club: play good, attractive football and work hard for each other and the team.

I believe that we can cut out some silly mistakes that we are making, push on and have a really good season.

With the new signings we have made, we are sure to push on further.

We have a great group of lads to have around the place and there is some half-decent banter going around too, so that the new players have been made welcome.

I have enjoyed my new role at the club (apart from losing), alongside Bids (Matt Biddle) and Sean (Sean McKeon), so long may that continue and also that we enjoy a good laugh along the way…”

The match should be a decent one at Pack Meadow, surrounded by trees with their myriad of autumn colours reflected by the floodlights…

Remember, the match coverage will be at themowdog.blogspot.co.uk from Tuesday 2nd November…
