At A Polish Rail Station…
(As seen on Sky News)
A pensive Polish rail station.
A myriad of unplanned movement.
Abject confusion from different places,
Children clutch cuddly toys with bewildered faces,
Bravado wrestling with humiliation…
A massive Ukrainian migration.
A future of uncertainty imminent.
Sullen disillusion upon pallid faces,
Siblings clutch hands in tense embraces,
Borders bristling with expectation…
And food and solace are freely given.
And transport to safety arranged.
And kindness is offered to humanity, riven
By a Russian dictator’s decisions deranged…

The station was Przemyśl.
The tears were real.
