BURNED BY BLOOD... (MY NEW POEM FOR UKRAINE...)

 Burned By Blood…

(…a poem for Ukraine…)

Damp sand. Stones. Rubble.

Fractured rocks. Detritus. Waste.

Tide rushes onward, its white surf like smoke

Billows against skies burned red by fire,

Between headlands silhouetted black

Like charred ruins of once massive walls,

To shells razed…

Drab ground. Stone. Rubble.

Scattered rocks. Debris. Waste.

Enemy surges onward, its white explosives spew smoke,

Billowing against skies burned red by ire,

Between buildings scorched black,

Now scarred ruins of once passive walls,

By shells razed…

14th March 2022…

Trying to make sense of and comparing last evening’s beautiful sunset at Mawgan Porth, Cornwall, UK and what Russian bombardments have done to Ukrainian towns…
