THE SEA TURTLE AT PORTSCATHO...

 The Sea Turtle At Portscatho…

A heavyweight, it lurches,

Stumbles and fumbles

Out of the shallows and reaches

For a dry place on rocks

To cling onto, as the tide surges.

The sea urges itself onto the giant shell

With a-spitting and a-scurrying

But the turtle hauls and strains,

One eye indolent, as it purges

Itself of the ocean’s constraints,

Then pauses for respite from its scuttling and worrying…
