Ben Morley: always seems to get lost in Brinklow... |
Hi Pete, it's Ben Morley and I've done the match report this week for Brinklow...
Brilliant Brinklow:
"Brinklow entered the game off the back of a win against rivals Folly Lane on Tuesday and knew they had to carry on the winning momentum against Jaguar Daimler. Things got off to a slow start as Jag had a number of corners early on but couldn't create any clear-cut goal scoring opportunities.
Things improved considerably in the last 20 mins of the first-half for Brinklow whereby the opening 2 goals were scored. The first came from Jordan Hayward after Nathan Stoute blitzed his defender in a foot-race down the right-side and picked out a quality cross for Hayward who picked out the top-bins with his right-foot (who knew he had one?)
The second goal involved Hayward again who started the attack and found Emmanuel near the byeline who put in an inch-perfect cross for the arriving centre-midfielder Ben Morley, who smashed the ball home from close range.
After the second-half restart it was Brinklow who dominated and soon found themselves 3 up following an incisive run from Emmanuel whose pass/shot effort deflected off an unaware defender and the ball found itself in the back of the the net.
It was 4 in no time after a quickly taken free kick to Hayward saw him hit a low meaningful cross into the danger area, which ended up being slammed into his own net by a Jag centre half (decent finish as well).
After some good pressing by the Brinklow defence and midfield, the 5th and 6th goals followed, scored by Hayward and Connor Tallett respectively, both executing their one-on-one opportunities.
The 7th arrived after sloppy play by the Jag Daimler goalkeeper, who played a poor ball to his back-line, which was intercepted by Morley and ended up finding its way to Connor once again, who rifled home the last of the goals for Brinklow with an accurate half-volley.
After confidence being sky-high within the Yellow and Blues, there were a couple of lapses of concentration within the midfield and back-5, which saw Nathan Stoute concede a sloppy penalty, giving Jag Daimler a goal back in the game.
Then within a couple of minutes another goal came from a cross out right to a Jag Daimler striker, who headed home to complete the scoring, ending the game 7-2.
All-round a great performance with good structure at the back and clinical finishing up top.
Deserved win for Brinklow!
