COVENTRY UNITED COACH HARRY BARNES' VIEWS ON THE ABANDONED FA CUP REPLAY AT SHAWBURY...

HARRY BARNES: EATING WELL, LAST SEASON...

"The Mowdog always seems to miss the interesting games...

Last night was eventful to say the least...

The game itself was a much better performance from our lads than on Sunday. At times it was still fairly scrappy but we withstood a period of about 20 minutes where we were under a lot of pressure in the first-half but we avoided conceding.

The last 5/10 mins of the first-half, we grew into the game and became dominant. We nearly scored with a few good chances but nothing spectacular came from the period.

The 2nd half started how the first ended and we created chance after chance, with a couple of clearances off the line from the Shawbury lads.

Josh O'Grady put a good ball in towards the back post for Chris Cox to head in and thus gave us the lead with about 20 minutes to go. Rich Morris then pulled off a top save onto the crossbar to keep us in front.

Shawbury's Liam Brant then sustained what I've now been told is a sprained neck in the 86th minute and went down needing an ambulance, which arrived after about 45 minutes.

Here's wishing him the best for his recovery....

The lads from both teams were ready to play the last 4 minutes, plus 4 more for stoppages, when a club official at Shawbury turned the floodlights off and had then done a runner!

The game was then abandoned despite the referee's best attempts to keep the game on.

You'd have to imagine, off the back of the referee's match report that the game will simply be awarded to Coventry United, but we await the response from the FA...

Never quiet at Cov' United games, is it?"
