BRINKLOW FC'S CONNOR TALLETT COMMENTS ON HIS TEAM'S 1-2 HOME DEFEAT TO WOODLANDS...

BRINKLOW FC: 2 GAMES, 2 DEFEATS...

"An optimistic Brinklow side took to the field last night, looking to put things right after opening the season with a defeat on Saturday.

Straight from kick-off Brinklow were put on the back foot due to a direct Woodlands side which was looking to clip the ball in behind at every given opportunity. This was something the Brinklow team wasn't accustomed to.

Brinklow struggled to settle on the ball, meaning the short passing football associated with the side was missing, not allowing the team to progress up the field. Near the end of the first half the Brinklow 'keeper (Mally) threw the ball out looking to start a counter attack but it hit a Woodlands attacker on the back and he was able to play a team mate in on goal. The Brinklow keeper didn't know whether to stick or twist, giving the attacker plenty of time to think, resulting in the ball being chipped into the back of the net.

Half-time score: 1-0 to Woodlands.

The second-half saw Brinklow take the game to woodlands and they were finally rewarded when Nathan Stoute capitalised on a clumsy mistake from the two Woodlands centre-backs and managed to slot the ball past the onrushing 'keeper, making it 1-1.

This saw Brinklow push on looking for the winner but in the dying minutes of the game the Brinklow 'keeper gave away a penalty after diving at the feet of a Woodlands attacker. The penalty-taker smashed the ball down the middle but unfortunately Mally couldn't get a hand to it, as he was diving.

Full-time result:  2-1 to Woodlands."
