COVENTRY UNITED COACH HARRY BARNES REFLECTS ON THE 0-1 VICTORY @ SPORTING KHALSA...

"We knew that today's game away to Sporting Khalsa was going to be very tough and we weren't wrong. Today's 1-0 win came from a last minute super-sub goal from Kai Williams, who did exactly that on so many occasions last season.

We had received some information about Khalsa and the way that they would set up and the way that they would play, and so we changed our own shape to counter that. Fortunately, this paid off and we limited the number of chances that Khalsa would have and also the quality of those chances.

The game was very open, with both teams sharing periods of the game to dominate possession-wise. The 2 most clear cut chances for either team came to The Messiah, Brian Ndlovu, but against a very good goalkeeper Brian couldn't quite give us the lead.

Josh and Brian came off in the 2nd half for Matty and Kai who gave us different attacking options, but more than anything Kai's pace was important to play on.

A couple more chances went by for both teams including Khalsa hitting our post about a minute before we scored, then Kai broke free with his pace and from what I remember, just looped it over the goalkeeper, after about 91 minutes.

Khalsa were genuinely the model football club and were as polite and professional on the pitch as they were off it. The post match meal was very nice, with great facilities and they should have no shame in their overall performance today!"
