FLACKWELL HEATH MANAGER PAUL SHONE REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 2-2 DRAW @ HENLEY TOWN...

PAUL SHONE, SHADED...

"After the disappointment of Saturday's result, a 2-1 defeat at home to Highworth, it was back on the road against Henley.
A few changes to the line-up from Saturday, included new signing Jon Bennett going straight into the starting 11. We got off to a good start taking the game to Town and applying pressure straight from the kick off.

But for all the possession and chances it was Henley that took the lead with a simple long ball forward to the lively centre-forward who had time to control, turn and then get a shot off inside our six-yard box, which he beat the keeper with at the near post!!!!! If only Henley's defence would have given our forwards that much space in the box!!!!!

With still 25 mins of the 1st half left, there was only one team that was playing football and carving out chance after chance. Both full-backs who aren't normally full-backs had excellent games and put in some excellent crosses but we went in at half-time 1-0 down.

2nd half and the pattern continued with us on the front foot. Then out of nowhere, sloppy defending again and Henley were 2-0 ahead and if that wasn't bad enough, a 2nd yellow card for Dan Hicks saw us down to 10 men, as well as 2-nil down.

If we weren't up against it before, anything from the game now would have been good. A few substitutions and a change of shape and we carried on creating chances... Surely it was only a matter of time before we took one?

Then a great bit of work and a cross into Burnell whose touch and finish was something special.

Still lots of time to grab an equaliser and that we did, with the excellent Liam Tack playing at right-back made an excellent run and was picked out, his touch and finish were excellent too.

2-2 with 20 minutes to play with only 10 men but would we settle for the point? Maybe, but we could have had all 3, still having chance after chance and looking like the only team to score. It wasn't to be, however.

Before the game, would I have been happy with a point? No, but after the game and what went on, maybe, but for me on the weekend's 2 games, it's 4 points dropped.

Now we must try and pick ourselves up and prepare for a big FA Cup tie, away to Cambridge City on Saturday."
