EDWIN GREAVES, MANAGER OF AFC BINLEY, REPORTS ON HIS TEAM'S 4-0 VICTORY OVER WHITNASH RESERVES IN THE PETER TOOGOOD CUP, ROUND 1...

"We got the game underway but it was Whitnash who settled into their passing game the better of the two sides. Although having more of the possession Whitnash failed to trouble our defence.

We created two good chances but both Paul Govier and Fabian Spence shot wide.

We eventually took the lead in the 18th minute when Steven Young won a tackle in midfield before feeding Paul Govier whose shot gave the Whitnash goalkeeper no chance: 1-0.

The Whitnash goalkeeper pulled off two more good saves to keep his side in the game."

Half-time: 1-0.

"Reece Simpson was replaced by Kyle Metcalfe at the start of the 2nd half which started with the Whitnash goalkeeper making some more good saves, before finally being beaten again.

In the 58th minute a Danny Vincent freekick was finished from close range by Paul Govier: 2-0.

On 61 minutes a Kyle Metcalfe pass to Paul Govier helped him complete his hat-trick: 3-0.
After 64 minutes Paul Govier and Fabian Spence were replaced by Travis Smallwood and Justin Lang.

In the 68th minute Kyle Metcalfe and Travis Smallwood linked up well before Travis Smallwood passed to Justin Lang who finished well: 4-0.

The lads continued to create chances but no more goals were scored."

Full-time: 4-0.

In summing up this game:

"We went into this game as favourites to win but it wasn't really until the 2nd half that we managed to put it out of reach of Whitnash.

Whitnash who sit 2nd in the division below us, started well and played some neat and tidy football. This young side is a credit to their management team and their club and I wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.

As for us, it's nice to start the New Year with a win and after our Christmas break it was good to get playing football again.

Up next for us is Bulkington Sports and Social away, in the Bedworth Nursing Cup Semi-final 2nd Leg.

We go into the game with a 4-1 lead but that means nothing when you are playing a team 2 divisions higher than us and in their own back yard.

I remember how difficult the 1st game was for us so I know we have another difficult afternoon ahead."
