'DRIFTWOOD IN MOUSEHOLE': A NEW POEM...

Driftwood In Mousehole

‘Driftwood’, roped and beached
Inside the harbour,
Its stern turned upon a docile blue sea:
It revelled in April sunlight
And the accompanying coolant
Of a brisk westerly breeze…

Driftwood, standing, I reached
For the vessel,
My back turned upon St Michael’s Mount:
I hovered in Mousehole’s cramped quay
And the surrounding vibrant
Village, entirely at ease…
