EVESHAM'S WAR MEMORIAL: A POEM...

Evesham’s War Memorial:
Impressionism...

Weight rests upon clay-encrusted boot,
Hand clutching canvas for dear life;
Rifle slung behind left shoulder
And bulging pack heavy upon slim frame,
Weathered, wearied and wrung by strife...

Gaze rests upon an impressionist’s wood,
Death weeping grey for wasted life;
Step poised from raised boulder
And raging desire pitiable on ashen face,
Withered, worried and wronged by strife...

Impressionist artist’s wooded backdrop...
